The Alice Whitlow Scholarship
The Alice Whitlow Scholarship was created to honor Alice’s legacy of servanthood and love for reading.
Alice was born on May 22, 1954, to the late Chester and Iwanda Bolling. She was the wife of Marshall Whitlow and loving mother to Kira, Aaron, Adria and many more. Alice loved her family and friends, to Alice, everyone was family and she treated everyone as such.
Alice was known for her love of God. She was a long-time member of Seventh Street Baptist Church. Alice was active in the willing worker ministry, Meals on Wheels, Relay for Life, Curbside Ministry and several other community efforts.
In addition to her service, Alice loved many things such as cooking, baking, crosswords, scrabble, movies and reading.
In May 2015, Alice was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) , a rare form of appendix cancer. After one year of battling, Alice won her fight against cancer entering final eternal rest on June 1, 2016.
Even amid the storm, her faith stood unmoved. Even through her battle with cancer, she remained a beacon of light to many, earning the nickname “Sunshine” along the way.
Thank you for helping us honor Alice and keep her legacy alive.
